Tattoo Aftercare

Day 1: Following the procedure leave the wrap/bandage applied by your artist on. Do not remove it until you are ready to shower. As you shower wash your tattoo with antibacterial liquid hand soap with just your fingertips. Do not use washcloths or sponges. Once you have finished showering, pat dry your tattoo with a clean towel. Allow your tattoo to air dry for approximately 15 minutes before applying a new wrap/bandage. Do NOT apply ointment or lotion to tattoo. Wrap your entire tattoo with a non-adhesive plastic wrap. Ensure that the entire tattoo is covered.

Day 2 & 3: Remove the plastic wrap when you wake up. Wash your tattoo with antibacterial liquid hand soap with just your fingertips. Do not use washcloths or sponges. Once you have finished washing, pat dry your tattoo with a clean towel. Allow your tattoo to air dry for approximately 15 minutes before applying a new wrap/bandage. Do NOT apply ointment or lotion to tattoo. Wrap your entire tattoo with a non-adhesive plastic wrap. Ensure that the entire tattoo is covered. Remove the wrap twice throughout the day, and repeat the cleaning and wrapping
process. Morning, Noon, and Night work best.

Day 4-7: Stop wrapping your tattoo. At four to seven days into the healing period, the skin around and on the tattoo will start to peel like a sunburn. Apply dry skin moisturizing lotion 3-5 times daily to this area until fully healed. Do not pick the skin, or scratch. This will damage the tattoo.

Day 7 – 10: The skin should have peeled away and left shiny, wrinkly new skin. During the full 2 week healing period, avoid hot tubs, swimming pools, and lake or ocean water. They harbor bacteria that could cause an infection. Avoid exposure to running water for longer than 5-10 minutes, including showers and baths. Do not
submerge the tattoo.

Day 14 and on: By the end of two weeks, the tattoo should look like it’s healed, though it will take a full 45 days for the skin to completely regenerate itself. Continue to lotion the skin 3-5 times daily until the new skin is completely regenerated. For the best appearance of any tattoo, lotion daily.
